Project description
Bryophytes are fascinating organisms, with a high potential for biotechnological applications, such as the production of highly valuable compounds. My objective in the Mosstech network is first to find mosses showing naturally high levels of interesting terpenoid precursors, elucidate the according biosynthetic pathways and take advantage of these to implement synthetic designs allowing efficient and controllable production. During this process, effective transformation systems will be established for promising novel mosses.
